I just bought a 99 Avalon XLS and I can't figure out what the ECT button does and were would I find the CD Changer if this car has one. It has the buttons on the stereo like it's supposed to but I don't know.
Can I ad a Key fob to this car. When we bought it we didn't get one with it. I really like this car it is better than my Impala.

ECT button has nothing to do with cd changer. It supposedly keeps the trans from shifting, kind of like a 'sport mode'. Put your foot to the floor and that transmission won't shift till redline, regardless of if the button is presed or not. The button is useless (at least from my experiences).
CD changer (if you have one) is going to be in the trunk, either corner, or in the glovebox. I'd bet trunk.

i've noticed when I use the ECT button the cars shifts harder and talkes a little longer to shift. I noticed that it does seem to improve horsepower. That might be by deception but it is quicker.

Hi Micali,
The ECT button does change the shift points. The beauty of this system is that in the normal mode, with moderate pressure on the accelator, the car shifts out of a lower gear at lower RPM's, saving fuel. Of course if you want to accelerate faster, holding the pedal to the floor effectively bypasses this feature.
If the car has a CD changer, it is located in the trunk, mounted at the back edge of the opening. Just because the stereo has the buttons does not mean the car has a changer.
The key fobs are available on E-Bay.
