i saw the most rediculous thing today. some dude in his new porsche (the really shiny ones with about 12inch wide rear tires) was in front of me on a main street here in Omaha and was being the biggest idiot ever. he would be going about 40 or whatever since there were cars in both lanes in front of us, and just cruise along spinning probably 5 or 6 thousand rpm. he would make swervy movements around cars and then i would always just drive normal and end up right behind him at the next light (i was driving an 88 honda accord with double digit horsepower, so i wansnt gonna try to rice him out lol). at every light he would see if there was a decently hot chick in the car next to him and he would yell out something to her and try to start up a conversation. then when the light swiched over to green, he would do a burnout and kinda let them catch up as he was cruising along at a bajillion rpm's. i decided to mess with him a little and one light he was in front of me and so i used the e-brake to stop, so it sounded like i was gonna rear end him due to the screeching of my tires. he flipped me off and continued along his way...

haha something tells me this dude has a 4 inch thingamabober and he hopes the car will make the chicks focus on something other than that... this makes me really want to finish my truck so i can mess with yuppies in thier nice cars (though i bet a porsche would probably win that race, being as they have a big weight advantage and only a little less if not more power than my 383 will)

Meh...end of the day everyone knows he's a moron with a nice car. I wouldn't worry too much about it.

To be honest, If i had a 911 GT2, I'd be driving the piss out of it too. I wouldn't bother with the chick-picking up thing though.

haha yeah i didnt say i wouldnt accept a porsche as a gift or something... though i would likely sell it and use the profits to build a high-powered corner carving domestic... maybe drop 50 grand into an iroc and make it a 9 second naturally aspirated car coupled with 1g or better on the skidpad. that would easily blow a porshe out of the water. i would make sure it was a sleeper though with full exhaust so that i surprise the crap out of people like that.

hell, now that i think of it, he probably wasnt hurting anything going 6000 rpm forever down the road...im sure that those porches have a simple crank scraper and windage tray to prevent a vortex of spinning oil that would rob power

a 9 sec camaro pulling 1g on the skidpad would NOT be a sleeper. And i think the porsche would beat it out still :)

Plus a Porsche looks better than a Camaro every time.

P.S.: Bonus points for the avatar Steel.

porches are nice. no doubt about it.
BUT, i too would rather have a sleeper domestic that, although it may be a smidge heftier, a bit out of shape, and slightly rough around the edges, would be a HECK of a lot more fun to drive.
we all know that the closer a cars limits of handling are matched to the drivers limit of driving, the better the driver will like the car. a porche has an incredible potential that said yuppie will NEVER use.

I would rather have a car that i KNEW like the back of my hand, and knew the ways to get the most out of it.

SCREW porches.
SCREW yuppies.
and well, screw all of you now that i think of it...

A stock Porsche is also much more reliable than a built domestic.

being unreliable is half the fun of a built domestic.
plus, if you have the skill to build your domestic to porche level performance, then you shold have the skill to diagnose and hopefully fix any quirky problems you get.

EXACTLY!!!

If you want unreliability, get an RX-7. Yeesh.

I'm not talking little quirky problems here. I'm talking the domestic has the slightest tick wrong with it that leads to the engine blowing up or something.

And yes, for reliability I'll take a Porsche over most domestics any day.

Porsche's now-a-days are quite reliable. They really have been in the past too.

Yuppie....a term from them '80s and early '90s.:lol:

Guess since I'll be driving a Bimmer in a few months I'm a yuppie too?:grinno: And what's wrong with looking at chicks in the car next to you? I do it all the time in traffic.

oh sure...
looking at chicks in traffic is what gets me thru traffic...
thats not the problem
the problem is when you feel the need to show everyone around you exactly how small a person you are by flaunting your brand new yuppie-mobile in front of everyone.
a bimmer (i always thought it was beemer, but hey) does not automatically a yuppie make. a bimmer (beemer) must be either sky blue, yellow, or fuchia (yes, fuchia) before you are a TRUE yuppie. it also must not be the top model. maybe two or three clicks down on the bimmer (beemer) food chain.
that is my opinion.

Bimmer = BMW car
Beemer = BMW bike.
