Modified 406 coupe

I was looking to buy a V6 406 coupe recently and came across one that had been seriously, but taste-fully modded. It had twin separate exit exhausts - must have custom-made, 18" alloys (!) and an LAD motorsport tuned engine that put out 270bhp!!
I took it for a drive and it felt absolutely fantastic - so much more torque lower down than standard. There was too much traffic to try the top end unfortunately.
External factors (wife...) prevented me from buying the car - but I was close.
Has anyone else heard of modded coupes?

I heard of an Alsacian firm which modified the V6 of the Coupé 406 : then the V6 with 4WD developped 450hp with 2 turbos !!!!!!! This company is called Alesia....

The range is not bad today :
2.0 16s 137hp auto
2.2 16s 160 hp
3.0 V6 210hp
2.2 Hdi 136hp
But indeed, I agree that a V6 more powerfull would not be a stupid idea. Hope the COupé 407will have one ! It'll have the V6 Hdi Biturbo 200hp in diesel, a good news ;)

I already have 180-190 hp in my 2.0 coupe.
In January I will raise it to about 230 hp.

230hp on the 2.0..... mhhh, why not ! :D And why wouldn't you buy the V6 ? or even the Hdi ?

Because it's easier to raise the power in 16s engine than in V6, of course using a turbo kit.

Indeed Swoxy !
Gabro : the V6 is more smooth than the 2.0. My mother has the 2.0 and it's not so good, it's a good 4 cylinders, but the V6 is much better. And on the V6 you could add HP too. Alesia did it (a small Alsacian compagny) : Coupé 406 V6 Biturbo 440 hp !!!! ....of course, the modifications are quite expensive and important, but, why not !! ;)

We can make a 400 hp motor on the 2.0 motor basis.
Like I said- it's quiet easy and not as expensive as in Alesia.
If you do this the lifeline of the engine will fall rapidly.
This is the only problem (excluding economy).
I want to have fast and usefull car so it can"t be a powerfull monster.

Has anyone thought about what kind of power you're pushing through the front wheels!

Swoxy is right : the Alesia is a 4WD, and not the classic 406 Coupé... so 400hp on a classic one would maybe be a little bit too much :D

We thought about it Swoxy.
There are few cars in Poland pushing more than 400 hp through the front wheels.

This 400 hp is only for 1/4 mile racing.
The cars have hp limiters for usual driving.
But you're right this is too much for front wheels.

Can't get over how much these two, with the deep dish rims, look like Ferrari 456s ...
Well, both Pinninfarina drawings. It's a shame the interior is standard 406 though. A guy here has modified his so he thinks it actually look like the Ferrari (wheels, badges,...). It look stupid if you ask me, and I can't stop pointing at it and say "Ah aH" when I see it.
