Hi all -
I have a 95 chevy S-10 that for the past 6 months has been intermittenly been missing when I would give it gas as though to pass someone. Otherwise it drives fine and idles smoothly. Two days ago I was on my way home and it felt and sounded almost like a soft backfire and almost died out on me twice. Then as though nothing were wrong it was completely fine and I continued home. I took it to the shop the next morning and as the guys were driving it into the bay it completely died on them and wouldn't restart. After a couple of hours of checking the mechanic found that I'm not getting power to half of my fuse box. He stated that now I have no dashlights/panel lights. Just so you know, I had no issues with my truck other than the missing/hesitation prior to taking it in. The mechanic said that he was able to finally get it to start again.
I'm trying to be proactive in attempting to resolve the issue or just buy a new car. I've had no recent work on the truck other than replacing the clutch earlier this year. I am due for a tune-up. I haven't been using a lot of gas or oil. I keep up with the maintanance as close to time as I should. Does anyone have an idea as to what could be causing only half of the fuse box to get power or why it almost died? Could the two things be related? :crying:

Your best bet is to get a good wiring digram of the power feeds from battery to fuse box.
And get a good volt/ohm meter and trace down where you are losing 12 volt feed.

My first guess would be the ignition switch, because on a '95 the switch powers half of the fuse panel. In fact its probably the only single thing that will power one half of the panel. Plus, it appears its something that is intermittent, as it comes and goes. A fusible link or anything like that is not going to heal thy self.
