That isnt too bad but it depends on what state your in for the laws on tint my sisters surbaban has 5% in back and 35% in the front i believe.

On my monte I have 5% on the back window and 20 on all the sides, looks great IMO, not too dark but not so light that you can see me. All you can really see is my "shadow." But it also depends on your local tint laws.

I wonder what the limits are for Ohio...

I agree with gthompson, 20% FTW
My friend has 20% on his car and it does look good. Cant see anything from an angle, and from head on you just see his outline.
Ohios laws are:
5 inches / 50% Film / ANY* / ANY* / 2004
Meaning that you can have up too a 5 inch "brow" on your front windshield. The two front windows must allow 50% of light to pass through. And the back windows and back windshield can have any level of tint on it. This law came into affect in 2004.

ND is almost identical to that and passed it back in 2004. Nothing on the windshield at all (that's the only difference), 50% on the fronts, and anything on the back 3 (or 5 if you have split back windows)

NY is 70% front and back... but im thinking what i said above...
gthompson97
10-29-2006, 09:21 PM
70% front and back? Meaning you can't tint your windows at all? Because factory "tint" or "shading" on the windows is like 75-80% IIRC.

Yeah, that pretty much says you can't do anything to the sides, but you can put anything on the back.
Tint is rated by how much light get's through, not how dark it is. Say 70%, that means 70% of the light has to get through the window. And even though it doesn't look like it, cars come from the factory with a 75-80% "tint" or "shade" in the glass already.

Google is your friend! :evillol:
As for NY tints. That law is so gay. But whenever I go up north I always, ALWAYS see people with what looks like limo tints. Either some people are dumb, they dont give a fuck, or they a police connection :grinno:

Damn, IL can't have anything on the front doors. No wonder by guy in his S10 gets pulled over all the time. He's got 10% on the doors.
IL
visor: 6", front doors: none, rear doors: any, back window: any

Do DSM's have trouble with tinted windows since they rub a lot when you roll them all the way down? I seem to remember hearing about how some people got theirs done, and after a few months a certain spot on each side window started to rub off.
gthompson97

I've never heard of that happening, unless the felt piece inside the door is wore out and doesn't guide the window properly, then I supppose it could wear it out over time.

any car at all could have problems with tint like that. it doesnt matter, dsm, lancer, honda, bentley even. as long as the whole window assembly is working correctly, then you wont have any problems. if you can roll your windows up and down right now and you dont see any scratches or outrageous streaks, then you should be fine with tint on the windows.

Well I asked because I have noticed that both my windows rub in the same spot on each side when rolled down a little ways. It's not bad, but when there is moisture inside the door and you roll the window down, it leaves condensation in that spot worse than anywhere else. Just wondering if anybody else had this, as I have heard other people do who get it tinted.

I would keep it the same all the way around.
I guess MN is cool about this shit, I called the Cop Shop asking about tint. The dude looked it up for me, 35% on the front two windows, anthing goes behind that. As of right now, I have one tinted and one non tinted window on the Talon, no one has noticed but me so far though :icon16:. Once I get performance stuff done I think I am going to get it 35% all the way around. Just enough to be decent, but not too dark and legal. Probably not for a while though.

I got 5% all around and that shit too dark, I cant back the car out, when at night. CANT SEE :icon16: . And the next day I got pull over, cause it too dark, that cop follow my ass for like 5 miles until I pull over my house and he stop me, so next day I got to put 20% all around accept 2 little side glass still 5%. total of my tint is $200.
