2006 Sienna Tranny/Dealer Problems

I just bought a brand new 2006 Sienna.

At 25 miles (on the way home from Dealer) the tranny starts bucking and up/down shifting violently with no rhyme or reason. This scares my poor pregnant wife and 1.5 year old son to death.

I call the dealer and they tow the van to their repair shop and give me a used replacement until my new van can be fixed. I tell them I have lost faith in this van and want another new one instead. They tell me I have 2 options:

1. If they can fix the tranny problem I will have to take back that van and hope nothing else has been damaged.

2. If they cannot fix it they will give me a new van BUT, it has to be another one off the dealer lot. If they don't have one in my color or with the options I want to bad for me!!

Has anybody else run into this? I think it's outrageous. I spoke with Toyota Corp. and they said I have to deal with the dealer and that they have nothing to do with this.

Any advice from current/past owners would be much appreciated.

No but, I would talk to other dealers and see what their policies are. If this dealer appears way out of line from the others it's that much more ammo for an arguement with either that dealer, Toyota Corp, or your State's Attorney General or Consumer Affairs office. I would hope Canada has equivalent agencies.

Just got a call from the Dealer. Apparently the Valve Body was faulty and needs replacement. It will take them a week to get the part in.

Does anybody know if driving the van with this faulty part would cause damage to other components?
