So I seem to have pulled a muscle or two in my lower back at the gym last night. I tried to stretch out the muscles alot before I went to bed at about 2am. I woke up at 4am in the worst pain I've ever felt in my life. It took me 30 minutes just to get myself out of bed. All bad.
So now I'm walking around the house trying to find ways to entertain myself as I ice my back at 5am. Of course AF is dead (you bastards). I definitely see myself falling asleep leaned against the wall.
Well I guess its back to wandering around the house for me. This was an excellent waste of 3 minutes. Damn me. Enjoy your backs :frown:

Oh I'm enjoying my back just fine.
Watch as I exhibit a backward sommersault...
OK somebody please send an ambulance to my place.

Sucks man, I've had my back go out 3 times over hte years as a result of a stupid stunt I did in highschool. I really feel for you. You might want to look into getting a support belt for lifting. Keep off your feet, stay in bed and take some pain killers and hopefully it'll get better soon.

Well I keep laying down and trying to sleep but I wake up about every hour and a half. I spend 10 minutes getting up and walking around/trying to stretch out. Do you think I should just try to stretch without standing up and walking? It hurts like bees on my balls every time I go from laying to standing but I figured I gotta push through the pain for it to get better. But I guess thats what got me in this position in the first place :frown:
Jimster, the ambulance is on the way... Don't walk to the light!

Thanks mang. I've had an ice pack strapped to my back since 6 this morning. My back seems to be better, but that could just be because my back is numb. I haven't taken any meds cuz I don't wanna attempt driving myself to the store to buy any.
I've been moving around all day though. Cooked some chicken and slightly burned it... I blame that on the back pain;) Lots of walking around. Trying to make sure my muscles don't tighten up in one position. I think I'll put a heat wrap on for the second half of today since I'm sure my tailbone is about frozen solid now.
The worst part about all this is that there's nobody around for me to get some sympathy service from!

you have powers to bugger people?
are you sure you want to admit that?
anyway.
back to the pain.
i know exactly how you feel, except in my case my back got stretched out of whack due to being forced into a postion the human body isn't supposed to be in (no... it isn't 2.2's strange powers again....).
I folishly agreed to be demonstration dummy for a joint-lock class and i tapped a bit later than i should have. The next thing I know, Ive got a small elbow wrap on me and my face was quickly moving towards the ground. After that i was rear mounted (not like that...) with pressure applied on my side/back from arm extension.
for the next couple of days, standing wasn't a problem. Neither was bending over (er...).
the problem was getting from one to the other.
proper phsyio/massaging seemed to help but i had that free at the gym.

you promised you wouldn't tell anyone....
ironically, the best way to prevent back pain is to do exercise to make it stronger, although that won't prevent strains and such.
my back hurt the other week, from carrying gearboxes. (3 times i was running while carrying them) but the pain went quickly.
i need to find some proper scales to weigh the gearboxes i carried. then i want to try the clean and jerk with one....

i just got home from a fantastic dinner at The living Room with the girl I love and am still on a bit of a high. That might explain my uncharacteristic posting habits right now.
Once the fact that I am now home alone and that she is 70 miles away hits me, I'll disappear back into my moody and grumpy old self.
then maybe i'll remember you and your situation and afford myself a brief smile before switching on the mean button again.

This thread has taken a quite unexpected turn.... I'm afraid http://www.v6performance.net/forums/images/smilies/hide2.gif
As for my back, standing or sitting is fine for me too. Its the in between. And exercising is how I got myself in this mess in the first place. Hopefully I should be good to get back in the gym by Sunday maybe Monday.

it's been about 8 weeks since i got to have dinner with the girl i love, and she's 4330 miles away. i have to wait just over 11 weeks before i get to see her again.

i'm not sure about that.
the body knows when it's not in good shape and pain is usually its way of telling you so. it'd be good to keep doing the most you can but putting excess strain on it when it is injured isn't a good idea in my opinion.

if you think exercising is hard with an injured back, try teaching a martial arts class when you can't move; the only thing you can do, is be the class demo/practice dummy.
