Hello, recently i have seen various mclaren f1 badges for sale, and i was just wondering if anyone had any more info on these badges, i.e. how many were produced (in total and different colours)?, were they offical badges and produced by mclaren? Did they do other official versions (i.e. LM and GTR badges)? etc. thanks all information is much appriciated, thanks.

The term "badge" is a bit misleading on these. These are essentially lapel pins - the "F1" and "LM" are about the size of a dime and the "GTR" ones are a bit smaller than a quarter. These were originally made by McLaren as promotional items.

The green "F1" pin symbolizes the GT. I've never seen a specific "GT" pin by itself.

Scratch that - I was wrong. There was a "GT" pin afterall.
I really should open my eyes before my mouth sometimes.

Dug through my image archive and found a picture of it. I don't recall seeing one for sale by itself, but at one point someone sold a set of the pins and it was included. I'll share the photo later.

Yes it only came in the collection. It was handed out with christmas cards, folded in half with all the pins inside.
Small textured card with the grey F1 logo on front.

its a trick of the camera, the orange one is kandy orange same colour as #073 (or the closest match!) this one is actually painted, inset into the pin like the Dark Blue F1 pin, and the black F1 pin too.
the other pins have a flat smooth front surface, its hard to explain, but once you have one in your collection im sure you will see what i mean! (these are enamelled)

thats not the whole set Peleton. There is a Uneo car on its own, without thr laurel or winner wording. IIRC it was held with two pins. I only kepted this one and a Black F1 one...which reminds me, where did I put them :)
The pins were given out to employees, christmas cards and also attached to most press release folders. They were inabundance in Woking :) I had about 15 at one point,,,,having never asked for one :)
There is a picture IIRC on one of my older posts of the Ueno car on its own IIRC
btw - (I cant be bothered to start a new thread) little news for you guys. Godon Murray has joined Caparo as Advanced Concepts Director

Not only did I know this, but I have one in my own collection. Thanks for mentioning it. :)
I've seen a few others too - there's a '95 Gulf GTR/'24 Heures du Mans'/Dunlop Bridge pin, a '96 GTR short tail FINA Presentation Car pin, a '96 GTR Marlboro livery pin, a '97 GTR longtail Gulf livery pin, a '97 GTR longtail EMKA/EMI livery pin, and an "F1 to P1" pin which may or may not be related to the GTRs. The might not all be products of McLaren, but they are out there if anyone is overly excited about pin collecting.
