2000 Stratus Steering doesn't 'return'...

When you turn the steering wheel at slow speeds and let go of it, it is supposed to turn back a little bit. Every front wheel drive I have ever owned does this. I don't know the physics of it, but the forward motion combined with some acceleration will cause the wheels to try to right (straighten) themselves. My stratus doesn't do this. I have to manually turn the wheel back to a 'straight' position.
What could cause this? This is one steering problem I've never experienced or even heard of....
This just started happening so I am about to go inspect everything but wanted to post something in here in case someone else has experienced this or knows what the probblem is.
The car is NOT making any moaning, groaning, or whining noises...
Thanks,
Shane

Wheel alignment is usually the cause, easy to fix, about $50.
Hopefully it hasn't been wrecked and beyond adjustment, happened to my wife's grandma. Her new/used car didn't steer right so she took it to the alignment shop and they couldn't fix it b/c the frame was bent further than the alignment adjustments would go. The car ate tires like crazy the whole time she had it.
