2006 AF Eighties Contest - RESULTS!
RallyRaider
07-02-2006, 03:11 AM
How did this creep up so fast? Here are the completed entries for the 2006 AF Eighties Comp!
As outlined in the Rules Thread voting is open to any member of AF who registered prior to 25 Jun 2006 (when the rules where first announced). To vote simply PM me, RallyRaider, with your choices. Just like the AFMOTY you can select three models in each category. Rank your favourite as three points, next favourite two points and third one point. To avoid confusion please use the below format:
Curbside
3 points – username, model
2 points – username, model
1 points – username, model
Fulldetail
3 points – username, model
2 points – username, model
1 points – username, model
If there is any uncertainty I’ll attempt to clear it up with a return PM, if time allows. Voting will be open for one week, closing on the 9th of July 2006. The models with the most points will be declared the winners. In the event of a tie a count back will occur with the highest number of three point scores (then two point scores if necessary) being declared the winner. One thing to note is that malscar has two cars entered in the curbside category, so be sure to nominate which of his cars you are assigning how many points, the BMW or Sierra.
So enough prattling on, here are the pictures! First up Curbside, with only the three entrants.

First bit of news - an updated entry list, Bobble83's Lotus is a late entry. If anybody who has already voted wishes to revised their points after the change let me know. (Un)fortunately that won't be many people because less than 10 have voted so far. Don't know why, too hard to choose amongst these great models perhaps? :) I hope things will pick up as next Saturday's deadline draws near.
Votes so far:

Gridgirl - 15
Malscar BMW - 14
Malscar Sierra - 13

I think your stock car is really nice.. When you see the small "diorama" I thought many people would vote for your model.. That´s the coolest Earnhardt scheme ever.. this and the Peter Max... Good job !

This was a very difficult contest to vote it. Very hard to choose between some of these entries. There were alot that could have been 1st choice IMO. Congrats to all the entrants.

Well voting has drawn to a close, now time to announce the results. But first let me say that everybody who entered is a winner in my book. Compared to those of us who fell by the wayside, all the people who actually finished deserve a prize. In fact they do in the form of some awesome models that now sit on their shelves.
But on to the nitty gritty, final points tally is as follows.
Curbside
Malscar Sierra - 58
Malscar BMW - 57
Gridgirl - 52
Full detail
Robrex - 55
Sennake - 46
Rickard_Olsson - 33
godfather23 - 23
white97ex - 12
SeanyG - 15
malscar - 5
stevenoble - 5
marci-blitz - 1
tigeraid - 1
Bobble83 - 1
If the first and second placegetters could please forward me their details, I'll start working on getting their prizes sent out.
Thanks to everybody involved, builders, voters and sponsors! :)

First of all, I'd like to thank Phil for a perfect organisation!
Next, I'd also like to thank and congratulate every single modeler out there who managed to finish his model before the deadline. Not everyone has as much spare time as I do, so I really respect people who devote their little free time to these little masterpieces.
I am very proud to come in second in such a high quality modeling contest. Whem I enter a IRL contest, I never encounter the same level as inhere. So I think it's fair to say that a second place inhere values a lot more than a first place in any IRL contest I know. And I humbly bow for the master who beat me with his P-E-R-F-E-C-T model of a superb Yamaha bike! Robrex, you truly deserve this first prize!! Congratulations!
Phil, you can count on me when your next competition will be started! I'll try to build a model that will be a worthy successor of my (2005) Ferrari 512S and (2006) Toleman...
See you all around!

Thanks everyone!
To be honest, since finding this forum my models have improved more than any other stage of my building life. The feedback, building tips, reading and watching other builds and general camaraderie are what a hobby should be all about! We work far too long not to enjoy our pass times!
As Sennake mentioned earlier congratulations go to everyone who actually finished a model! Malscar, well done on not only winning the Curbside category but also on completing two models for the comp!
Guy, your Toleman is absolutely beautiful and for it to be promoted by the company that made the model just proves how good it is!
And finally I would like to thank Phil for running the competition!
Now, where is that Lotus 72D?

Congrats guys! I really wanted to build something this year but i really wasnt ready to build anything from the 80's not to mention a hurricane and a move really set my modelling back this year. I will box up the prizes and get them ready for shipping.

I need to give out my congratulations to everybody entering the contest and especially to both winners. You both deserved to win your category - even though the Full Detail contest offered real masterpieces of work and love for detail, which made it hard choose the 3-pointer!
I need to agree with Sennake! With this forum the level of my modeling increased a lot (Reminds me that in last years LeMans competition I only got 1 vote). This years result is truely pleasing for me and will encourage me to be in the next contest as well! Thanks to you, guys!
