well, i got a muffler leak/

i have access to a small propane torch & a metal clothes hanger to seal the leak between the sheet metal & the seam...

would this work? or do i need a real acetelyne torch kit to braze the coat hanger metal to the muffler?

The torch is not your problem. The torch will get it hot enough to braze. Your problem is that you need a brazing rod and some flux. A metal coat hanger will not do at all. The melting temperture on that hanger is a lot higher than the melting temperature of the muffler. Plus coat handers are made of really dirty metal. welding and brazing should be done with clean metals made for the purpose. Dirty metals will leave pits and holes in the fused area thus doing no good at all.
Buy a brass brazing-rod and some flux (Or a brazing rod that has a coating of flux already on it) Shouldn'nt cost you more than a dollar for one 48" long piece.
Wire wheel the area really well before you get started. Good luck.
