it hasnt done it yet but im quiet sure it will soon,

it seems theres a rod hitting the block, i've had the valve cover off the problems not in there so, since the engine leaks oil and now has a knock its obviously time to replace the engine, i would like to maby put something more powerfull yet simple to work with, a friend is an auto service tech he things a jimmy v6, or gtp supercharged would move the tracker quiet nicely

So my Question for AutoF is What other engines would fit fairly easy under this hood of mine? im positive that a 3cyl. turbo'd would fit super easy but dosnt have the power im lookin for

*im aware putting another engine may take some custom mounting and or drive sharft... ect.. bla bla bla...

thanks, i will post in a minute more specs about my tracker

"Mom just got a '03 V6 (2.5) tracker. 165 HP, revs to 7G. I kinda like it! It might wake up one morning with a 1.6L 8V under the hood while my 89 Sidekick smokes the tires down the street LOL!"

Page 10: 1.6L 8 Valve Mods
Page 11: 1.6L 16 Valve Mods
Page 12: 1.8L and 2.0L DOHC 16V Mods
Page 13: Tracker V6s and other Swaps

these pages are quiet lengthy and indepth so im gona take a while, read threw this and probly try one of these

so far in my readings a Suzuki Swift GTi head sounds like fun, with a cam mod and a bit, running around 140 hp so thats got me happy couse, that engine will drop inplace as is :grinno: :grinno:

ill check back and let yall know my progress and what else i come across or deciede

ok so basicly ...

Bolt Ins:

2.5 v6 160 HP from 02 Tracker LT or ZR2 4 Door-
Low emmissions engine, much better torque and power than 4 cylinder but little if any aftermarket support. Best idea would be to get the heads and intake ported before the install. Custom supercharger kit could eb an option as well. Turbo not recommended due to exhaust manifold positions.

2.7 V6 180 HP from Suzuki XL7-
Same as above, except more punch. Again little or no aftermarket support.

Custom Swaps: These are swaps that are feasible with custom bracketry and the right ecu, wiring, and fuel system mods or swaps.

Mazda RX7 13B Turbo Rotary 1.3L(2.6 actually) 255HP-
While it may seem strange to put a rotary in a Tracker, keep in mind that rotary engines have massive torque and you can rev the hell out of em. Plus its a relatively small motor so it wouldn't be too terrible to fabricate mounts and drop it in.

3.8L V6 200hp from 93-97 Camaro base model- great V6 motor, medium aftermarket support but the power is more than adequate for most street driven Tracker motor swaps. RK Sport does make a powerdyne blower-based supercharger kit for the V6 camaro that could be adapted to fit in a Tracker application with the same motor.

4.3 V6 200hp from 95+Up Chevy S10/Blazer-
Same horsepower, more torque than the 3.8 Camaro V6, at lower rpms... This is a much better choice than the 3.8 for lifted, offroad Trackers, but would be about equal if not a little faster than the 3.8 in a drag race(possibly slower as the torque could lead to traction problems).

Gettin' Crazy
Anything is possible when it comes to cars, it all comes down to the time, effort, and money you want to put into it. It is after all just sheet metal... it can be cut and welded and reformed however you freakin please.

Just some ideas:
Chevy LT1

Chevy 350

Chevy 502 Ramjet (really nuts but it would be pretty cool)

Dodge Viper V10 (again, insane, but if they squeezed it into a pt cruiser a tracker isn't all that crazy)

Anything you damn well want, so long as you've got the skills to do it, or the dough to pay the people who have the skills.
