Need help: 1983 Civic swap

I am new here. I have a 1983 Civic 1500DX that I recently purchased from my friend. I had planned from the very beggining to swap a B16 or B18 into it when it was time. Recently, the motor seized and now I need to know some options. With the money situation me and my wife are in, I think a D16 would be easy on our funds. Please, if anyone can help me out what would be a good motor to swap into it? I would like to make a little power and possibly turbo it in the near future as my recent cars were turbo. Please, any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

My advise would be to get a stock junk yard motor for your car, then swap in the motor you want when you have more funds.
I don't see much difference between swapping in a D-series or a B-series, other than the cost of the motor itself. Both motors will require the same ammount of fabrication in order to get them in, so if you're doing a huge ammount of fabrication anyway, you might as well swap in the motor you really want.
I'm sure others will have a different opinion.

Thanks for the advice. I thought D16 SOHC VTEC would mean a lot less power than a DOHC VTEC. I was thinking the D16 would be a little easier to make work in the 2nd gen. This is not our only vehicle though I was wanting to daily drive it for a while. Eventually, it will be on a trailer. For now, I just need to know what I can swap in fairly easily and make it run for now. Any ideas on a good swap?

well an easy swap is any 80-83 civic motor (1300 or 1500cc.) 80-83 Accord 1800cc or the 80-82 Prelude 1800cc which is identical to the Accord motor. the accord/prelude motor is about 10-15 hp more but is limited in potential, i built one for my 83 wagon with the canadian non-cvcc head, cam, header, port&polish, and dual sidedraft weber carbs and some other stuff and it went pretty good but not compareable to a b or d series motor

Yes, a B-series will have more power. I meant there isn't much difference in the fabrication involved in the swap, it's alot of fabrication either way.
