The Mrs. returned home yesterday and parked the windstar in the driveway. I go out a couple hours later to start it, turn the key, and bump. Engine does not turn over. I hear the starter engage but the engines does not turn over. I recharge the battery , which checks out as ok and remove the starter and have it checked and it checks out ok. Where should I start next? The Mrs. did not report any strange operating behavior. It started right up for her and there were no check engine sensors showing. It has 162,000 miles on it. I fear that the motor may be seized and I have gotten all I'm going to get out of it. Help please. Thanks.

You might remove all the plugs and see if it will then turn over ... be watching to see if any liquid wheezes out. Hope not!

If you can do it safely, try putting a voltmeter right on the starter terminals while someone cranks it over ... you may have a bad cable or connection.

if you are worried about the motor being seized, i would try to get underneath, and try to spin the fly wheel(lowest pulley)....if it spins, the engine isnt seized....if everything is engaging, then the electrical system is most likely not the problem. Try the pulley first though, it will help diagnose.

had the exact same problem replaced the starter and still nothing tried turning the motor over via the crank pulley bolt was ablet o turn it but then it would bind up if i turned it back i could get the motor to do a bit of a turn, after a lot of screaming and for no apparent reason it finally decided to start has not done it since.
