It's really hot, need AC

Ok, I posted a day or so, confused on the AC system on my 92 Sonoma. I think that the door in my unit is shut off, since it is coming through defrost and Floor. Only problem is, i found the vacuum pod for the floor (by the gas pedal), and I found the vacuum pod on the right floorboard behind the kick panel. I can't find the one that controls the vents. Anybody give me a hint on where it is? Somebody place some sympathy. I am a fat boy with no AC. Thanks :)

Are you getting cold air? I have a 94 sonoma and I am not even getting cold air when I try to use my AC. In fact, it seems that nothing happens at all when I try to turn my AC on. I am trying to decide whether or not it is worth it for me to take my truck to a mechanic to fix the AC, I do a lot of repairs on my own, but I have zero experience fixing AC units.

Yes, it is blowing cold air, but it only comes through the defrost and through the floor. It is to my understanding that there are 3 doors that move the air from place to place (floor, vents, defrost), and i have found the two vacuum pods that control the floor and defrost, but unable to find the one that controls the vents. I was told that a lot of time, people will spill coffee or something to the effect, and cause the door to stick closed. It sounds to me that your problem is the actual blower motor has gone out. Is it blowing anything? If it's not blowing cold, then sounds like you may have a leak and don't have any freon. If it's not blowing anything at all, I would check all of the fuses to make sure none of them are gone, then, if you have a volt meter, turn on your vent or ac, and see if you are getting voltage to the blower motor itself, located on the passengerside firewall in the engine compartment. To change it out is pretty simple, just a few screws, and it comes out.

I hope someone can answer this for you, Dreamstar. I have the same problem. I can't get air to switch from the floor/defrost to the instrument panel vents.

Where are the vacuum pods located? I want to check them to see if they are stuck.

Also, does anyone know the correct AC pressure? ('95 Sonoma 2WD) I want to make sure I am filling the system to the right pressure, so the compressor runs. I think it is now, but I want to make sure. I checked this morning and it was really low. I charged it to the "safe" level on the guage, and the air got a little colder. I think it could use some more refrigerant, though.

BTW: My heater works like a champ, if that helps anyone with an answer. However, May in Florida is not good heater weather.

On my 92, one of the pods is located on the right, beside the gas pedal. it is a little bigger than a softball. it's mounted to the heater core. the other, is behind the kick panel, on the passengerside floorboard. Rumor has it, the other one is located up in the dash, on the firewall. I don't know if i really want to tear my whole dash out to get to it though. If it gets hot enough here, i may just do it

Ah, a round thing. I saw one under the hood on the driver side, near the firewall. It was attached to the hood. Don't know what that operates.
