Hey guys i just got some new spark plugs ready to install, NGK platinums. I got the ones and matched the number up witht he plugs so its made for my 96 2.2L. Does this mean they are pre-gapped to what it should be at [.060 inch] Also does it need a special torque rating or can u just tighten then do another 1/4 turn? Thanks

i dont quite understand, are you saying the part number on the NGK's is the same number thats on, lets say, the autolites (or a different brand), and thats the part number that your car gets..... IF thats what your talking about you still need to gap them, about the torque rating, my haynes manual says just to tighten with a ratchet or torque wrench, however it gives no torque rating for the torque wrench, anywhere,

Thanksthe Haynes manual says Spark plug is torque"132 in-lbs NOTE THIS IS NOT FT LBS and you are correct on gap for a 2.2L OHV engine .That is using AC delco plugs so your plugs are probably going to be the same. However different brand may have different gap......... LOL . Bet ya didn`t want to read that last line.:grinno:

just curious what page is that???? i looked everywhere (at least i thought) and couldnt find shit on the torque rating
also, the brand doesnt matter, it should get gapped the same as any other plug going into your engine

You want to gap them .060 of an inche. Put them tight about 1/8 to 1/4 turn when they get tight you dont want to break them off and strip them in there. Thats a fun job and a half.
