BlazerLT says: "Guys, this is a 1998, it doesn't have a nut kit or a cpi injector."
and
Wolfox says: "Indeed, there is no CPI in a 98."
Help a Newbie out here! "Blanco Blazer" is a 1998 LS 4Dr 2WD.
My RPO list has
"L35" - ENGINE, "GAS, 6 CYL, 4.3L, CPI, V6, 90 DEG, HO"
and on a VIN decode CARFAX has "4.3L V6 CPI OHV 12V"
Am I some weird exception to the rule or do I just not understand the topic?

Yes you do have a CPI type of system, but its a CSFI or "Central Sequential Fuel Injection", meaning you have an injector for each cylinder, firing at the exact time needed individually. The CPI is a "Central Port Injection", with one injector spraying fuel to each six cylinders all at the same time. The CSFI looks a little like the CPI system and yes it does breakdown and leak too. THE CSFI is more percise and because of that it can adjust air/fuel mixture a liitle better than the CPI can and thereby producing a little less emisssions.

If it is a 98 4.3 code w engine you have a CSI central sequentrial injection.
Fuel pressure regulater is mounter on fuel meter block inside the intake.
CPI/CPU was used on older years 4.3 V6.
CSI the fuel lines go into the top of intake. Direct into the Fuel meter block.
And each injector is seperate foe each cylinder.
Older CPI the fuel lines go into the back of the engine and have plastic inlet and returns inside intake refered to as a nut kit that go to just one injector that is used for all cylinders..
Now what is you problem? What is it doing or not doing? Why do you want to know what kind of fuel injector system you have?

1992-1995 were the only CPI engines.
1996+ is CSFI.
1996+ is CSFI.

Thanks to the respondents for enlightening me. I have been reading through all the posts here (and yes, I do mean ALL of them, currently 240 pages of threads) and had not seen this discussed.
The VIN does show that it is a "W" engine: 1GNCS13W5W2273971
Snip
Now what is you problem? What is it doing or not doing? Why do you want to know what kind of fuel injector system you have?

1. Me problem is me ignorance of Chevys in general and Blazers in specific. I've only had it for 2 weeks.
2. Other than giving half the MPG of my previous vehicle I have no issues to report.
3. Knowledge for the sake of knowledge. Is that not a good thing?
I'll change my signature later.
(Chiltons arrived in today's mail)

Ok no problem good.
You do not know untill you ask. He who never asks never learns anything.
On fuel mileage if it is below normal for it or running rough you might slip in a good set of AC Declo plugs and check air and fuel filter.
Good plugs and filters will sometime give you a couple of more MPG.
Good luck with it.
And look that chiltions over good.
