95 Monte stalling -- Help!

Hey all, brand new poster to this forum....hopefully somebody can offer up some advice for my plight.
This problem's been going on for about 3 or 4 days now. I'll be idling at a red light...when the light changes, I'll take my foot off of the brake and apply pressure to the gas pedal, the car will come very close to stalling (it HAS actually stalled on two occasions...leaving me scrambling to re-start it in the middle of traffic:banghead: ), then catch suddenly, peal out, and take off rapidly.
It seems like it becomes more of an issue when I don't drive it for long periods of time, after rain, or during really cold weather. I get regular oil changes and tune-ups, and I've had it in on a regular basis for failure to crank in the past.
I've got a day off coming up on Monday, so I'm planning on taking it in to be looked at and diagnosed, but I still have to drive to and from work tomorrow and to the mechanic's on Monday! Driving it has almost become a liability on a few occasions.
Any suggestions or comments would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks! --Chris

could be one of many things, but based on what you've said i would say its probably your fuel pump.. but get it checked out

could be your emc computer or lower and upper intake gaskets as well. Ive had the same problem and i changed the plinum gasket the lower intake gasket and the O2 sensor and she runs fine now

the crank sensors are a known issue on these cars (yes there are two). One is in the back of the block, and the other is behind the harmonic balancer.
