Heres some pics so far of the latest project....its coming along well. Have got the roll cage to build and fit tomorrow so hopefully get a pic later on when done.
Body will be painted in the next few days.
So far the whole car has been assembled with Kristal Klear only so that a lot of the painted parts doesn't run there colours into each other.
Hope you all enjoy so far.

I'm doing the same model right now. Mine's going to be red with the wheels done black/silver lip. I've also made the exhaust right off the turbo's have a heat flamed effect, it looks cool, but not entirely sure about realism. Like how you did the engine though, looks real good

Hi, very nice work.
If I would be you, I wouldn't use the decals harness.
They are too irrealistic !
Except that, you Porche look fantastic !!
Bye,

So far looks good...
I can't keep my eyes off the wheels!~ So nice!
:D

But somehow, I feel that light blue is not gonna go with it.:bloated:
What do you think?

Light Blue?!?
What's wrong with you guys?
Ferraris are red, Porsches are white or yellow, Jaguars are green ...
Just kidding :D:D:D:D:D:D
Looking great so far Primera. Great engine, and those "BBS like" wheels are one of my favourites.
Hope to see soon how the body will turn out.

gadzooks! what a sweet lookin kit! great job so far. that kit has been lookin at me for far too long and im off to get one very soon. do the rims come gold/silver or do you have to mask it yourself?

Looks great so far, but I need to know 1 thing. Is your rear spoiler fitting wel?? Because at my 911 GT2 Taisan Starcard it didn't quiet fit. The thing were the spoiler is fitted on doens't really connect with the rest of the body also.. so is it just my model, or all the 911 GT2 from tamiya scarred for life...? :D

FOTW....Thats a pretty mean looking kit...bit overkill for me though.

barnabei...the wheels come as silver and you have to paint the gold.

wishmaster....the spoiler has a small gap at the bottom of the widow which is the same as the other 2 i have done so far...so i guess they are meant to have it there for some reason

Can anybody tell me were to get some harness belts from??...i used to get them here in NZ but they just got to dear to buy and just wasn't worth it.

Thanks for the comments so far.

is it a hard masking job? might go get that kit tomorrow and was just wondering if there were any problems to fix before i started it ie: gaps etc. thanks.

I didn't use any masking at all. They have been hand painted with 3 coats of thin-down HUMBROL Gold...they are really quite easy to paint
I used the Humbrol as its a little bit darker then the Tamiya gold and seems to cover alot better

Ya darn tootin there fella! Good work though!

Harnesses...I can send you these if u like? I brought a couple and dont think i will actually be needing this for a while. I can always get more, there is no webbing included with it though!

Let me know?...anything to make u stop using those nasty decals!!!:finger:

For the belts themselves...you could use masking tape, folded over on itself!

Hi Primera Man,
if you want really really beautiful harnesses : use the ScaleMotorSport one.
They are incredible : http://www.scalemotorsport.com/sms_product_display.cfm?product_no=49
The problem is that they are a bit expensive at my point of view ! :(
But I order by the SMS webpage recently and I received the kits in 6 days (I leave in Switzerland!)

Bye for now :)

This is all i done today...got the roll cage together. Took abit to get right though.
Thanks for the help with the belts guys.
FOTW....Sorry for being stupid...but how do they work?
They are different to what i had before.
By the looks of things you just cut the belt to length and thread it though the metal bits and glue in place

Thats basically it dude.
Although in something like a two seater rally/race car u may want to have the webbing attached to the roll bar towards the rear of the car and this requires some tricky threading if u want it to look right.

Chris, you wouldn't happen to have pictures (real or of models) to describe it more clearly ... :D

Unfortunately not, still awaiting digi cam! However this is from the hasegawa WRX rally car taken from http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/plamo/
This one is a bit more complex, there is usually no need for the parts that fasten to the base of the seat - u cant see them!

Update.
Body has been painted and has come out pretty well. Just starting to get some of the detail onto the body and should be finished this week hopefully.
Just needs a final polish with compound and a good wax before all the windows and lights etc go on
I'll get some pics up later on of the body painted.

I was starting to worry, thought the PMan had left the building. I've been reading posts here for about 8 months, just hanging around and learning tricks and I have to say I have been absolutely amazed by your work!

I guess this is my coming out post.....I'll catch the name and age thread to get some info out on me.

Once again, I'm sure glad you are still around!!

And the Porsche looks great, the color reminds me of the Grabber Blue Ford used on the 69/70 Mustangs.

Cool!~ Nice..
You lowered the height?
I always love your painting, so nice! :)

primera man

TurmioI dont get any orange peel. I beleive the secret in getting it right is having the can at a nice warm temp so it flows from the can and having the model warm as well before painting. Then its just a matter of getting the right amount on to the model. As you spray you should get a real nice smooth mirror like finish as the paint goes on.
Not enough and it looks dull and has orange peel, to much and it will run. As most know i dont have a air brush as i like how quick and easy it is using a can. I guess it takes a bit of practice also.

Forhod Thats the standard height straight from the box.

I know the panel lines ppl either like or dislike(where's F.O.T.W !!! ;) ).
I was never a big fan either untill the guy who taught me and got me into models got me started. I had a few models on display and he told me i needed to do some panel lines to make the panels stand out more.
He took me out side and told me to look real close at any car and to see what i see. Sure enough if you look at any car the lines are black between any opening door etc.

Agreed you can see black.
I think your lines are perhaps out of scale - too thick -
Thats just my opinion and im not known for great intelligence.
Anyway ill stop complaining coz the PMAN inspires most including myself to be better modellers and sureley thats what its about rather than me whinging about little things like the thickness of panel lines.
Thanks for all u have taught and sorry for complaining !!

No problems here mate. Its the one good thing about building models is hearing what other people have to say and trying to learn from others.
Your not whinging IMO, as i like to hear any feedback about my models ...good or bad. :) :)

Hey pman, one trick I learned from tank and ship modeling is to use a darker shade the body's colour instead of using black. Black makes it look out of scale.

Have u tried using, let's say, a grayer shade of blue to fill in the panel lines instead of black?

Yes, gray colors give more realistic looks on panel than black. Or even smoke color is good.
