i just bought this a week ago and all the sudden the dome lights would stay on . i think that slide switch is bad i can unplug it and slide it up and down then plug it back in ,it works ..now when i turn it off about five seconds later the lights ( front and rear) head and tail come back on ?i have no idea what is causing it . #16 fuse keeps blowing as soon as i put it back in #10 was blown replaced it .it is ok but now no gauges at all . any help would be appreciated .

Hello
Are you asking about headlights or dome lights? The dome light problem is common with Ford products. Do a search in the Windstar forum for "dome light" and you'll see a bunch of threads pertaining to this.
A tip if you have a fuse blow right when it's put in. Solder wires on to a tail light bulb. Put the bulb in place of the fuse. Start pulling parts that are powered by the fuse (bulb) until the bulb goes out. When the bulb goes out you've found the short.

Dan

the headlights were coming on with out the key being in the vehicle.i also lost all gauges.there was a wire from the aftermarket radio touching metal , recrimped all radio wires and then tapped them .now everything is working.except the dome lights they like to stay on . ive read the posts on this matter and i will try it tonight or tomorrow .already have a headache over this ,but thank you for your help .

This is just a guess. It sounds like your light switch may be bad.

Look in your owners manual for the location of the headlight relay. I'm willing to bet the relay is sticking on. Find the relay (under the dash on the drivers side by the fuses) and pull it out.
