This is a question that kinda relates to the tacoma. How is the chasey on a truck rated like the 1/2 ton or 1 ton? What is the toyota chasey rated?

It varies with the model. If you look at a brochure there will be a payload rating. Example, 2004 Xrtracab 4 x 2
1550/1530 lbs. The lower number is for trucks with automatic. Payload includes occupants. Either in the door jamb or glove box door there should be a label giving the gross vehicle weight. That figure less the vehicle should give the load capacity. In short, I have owned four different Japanese trucks and non have rated as 1/2 or 3/4 ton, they all have suggested payload ratings.
