Blinker nightmare

I just bought my first jeep. 98 jeep cherokee fell in love But when I put on my left blinker both sides flash. When I put on right blinker it works fine till I put on brake then its solid, no blinking. When I just use brakes both sides of my blinker come on solid. Any thoughts or is it gonna be a major wiring nightmare.

Sounds like the left signal is shorted to the emergency flasher. On some cars the e-flashers stop when brakes are applied.
