Faster switch w/ Streptronic

Hello,

So I have been playing around with my new car's streptronic system, and seems like there is a lag (1-2 secs) from when I push the lever up and the physical shift of transmission as felt by the driver in M/S mode. Is there any way to decrease this lag in the automatic w/ streptronic transmission system? Does the dinan chip help in this case? Yep, I should have bought a manual *drool* but money, and availabilty became an issue at the time. Goal is to get a even better performing car: one that I can take to work, and to the track once in a while to have fun with friends.

While I am at this, would it be worth upgrading parts (shocks, intake, brakes, performance chip, etc) on a 2001 530i E39 automatic w/ streptronic or should I just wait and buy a different car. I have been a bmw enthusiast for a long time and finally bought a decent performing luxury car. My main objective is to ocassionally take this car down to the tracks for a friendly race...nothing too professional and also commute to work and take people out and stuff.

Any help will be appreciated. Thanks!

Upgrading your step with Dinan transmission software will provide you with several benefits; quicker shift changes, longer gear holding and higher rpm shifting on WOT. I'd recommend it if this is what you're looking for.

Thanks for the reply, btw, do you know if you can install the dinan transmission software w/o the dinan engine software? B/c the engine software needs the cold air intake as well as exhaust for optimal benefits. I was thinking if its possible to do dinan transmission software with the conforti's shark injector...

Thanks, Shawn
