I just got a 2000 Ford Windstar and the emission light came on this a.m. I just had a full check on this vehicle on saturday and everything came out fine. Anyone have any ideas as to why the light might have come on? Thanks.

Melinda,
Take it to any chain auto store like Autozone or Advance Auto. They'll read the codes for free. After that, search this site for past data on the codes or write back. You probably have a common problem that's already been discussed.

A hint on getting codes read at AutoZone or anyplace else: Be sure to ask for a list of the specific, numeric codes they read. Don't let them give you just a description like "your XYZ sensor is bad".
Search for the code number, or post it on this forum for more help.

My emission light is also on and tThe emission light does not send an error message to the PCM. Any other suggestions on what to troubleshoot? I have a 2001 Ford Windstar 3.8L, 120k. The engine will sputter until it is warmed up.

Does you front cigar lighter work? If not, you may have a fuse blown that feeds both the lighter and the code port.
