2001 Parking sensors

I recently purchased a 2001 SE with the parking sensors, problem is that when I put the car in reverse now the parking sensor button lights up OFF and the sensors do not work... When I try to push the button it blinks for a sec then goes back to OFF... Also when I put the car back into drive the sensor button light goes back to normal (keep in mind that the sensors do work now but randomly).

I also have a problem with the rear seat audio controls.. If I leave them enabled the factory in-dash six disk changer says RSC seek down (in radio or CD mode). I tried to push all the RSC buttons to no avail but was able to stop the problem by pressing the #3 at time to disable them.

The parking sensor problem just started and the radio problem started a few weeks ago when I played with the rear controls.

Any ideas on a cause and or fix would be great!

You're problem is not being ignored. It's seems that none of the "experts" here have ever had these two problems before. Or. We listen only to AM and our own engines singing as they run.

1. Back up thingy's They're all good. You're problem is under the dash, or in the column.

2. My "book" only goes to 98, but I'll bet there's a relay to deal with all those backup sensors.

3. Any haynes/Chiltons book off an auto parts store rack that included 2001 is going to have a few paragraph pertaining to these two problems.

4. See #3.

I went under the car near the muffler and found a connector going to the sensor cluster. After playing around with this connector the rear sensors seem to be working once again so I am thinking I will clean it and then follow it to make sure there is no shorts. As for the cd player I think I will remove the overhead rear seat controls and check the wiring.

Thanks for the input so far.
