95 winstar vehicle speed sensor

Does anyone know the location of the vss (vehicle speed sensor), I got an error code w/that listed the same time the transmission stopped shifting down to 1st, couldn't find it in my manual.

Welcome to AutoForums! How many miles on your 95? My 95 has around 180,000 to 185,000. I don't know exactly because I replaced the speedo head because of a jumping needle problem.
Your vss is on top of the trannie. Follow the left drive shaft to the trannie. It's almost impossible to get to without removing the crossover pipe or rear exhaust manifold.
