I think I can give you a little help here, since I have owned my 1991 Shadow ES Turbo Convertible for the last thirteen years.

Speedometer - I, too, suffered from a speedometer that would flutter, quit and resume at random. It did this for about eight years until I had my first transmission rebuild. No problems with the speedometer since. I don't know what they did to it at the transmission shop, but whatever it was, it helped.

Turbo Boost Gauge - This thing is run off intake manifold vacuum. The vacuum hose to the gauge passes throught the firewall behind the passenger side strut tower. Look for it there. If you can, get a hand operated vacuum pump, disconnect the vacuum hose to the gauge at the first connection point under the hood, hook up the pump and draw a vacuum on the gauge. Check to see if it is working. If so, the problem is lack of vacuum to the gauge. If not, either the hose or the gauge are faulty. The gauge gets its vacuum from the tap on the center front of the intake manifold. The hose from this tap connects to a bundle of vacuum hoses next to the fuel injector rail. Check the integrity of these hoses. I just discovered on my car last week that the vacuum hose going into this manifold tap was starting to crack from age. I replaced it before I developed a vacuum leak. You may already have such a leak. Check it out and replace any cracked vacuum hoses. You have a vacuum hose schematic on a sticker on the inside of your hood, for reference.

Good luck with your car and let us know what you find. I like to hear success stories.
