95 Stock radio - headphones

Hi,

So, we just picked up our new to us 95 Windstar GL - looks like it's got a stock cassette player in it. Problem is, there's nothing coming out of the speakers. THe little headphone indicator is lit on the radio and if I plug headphones into the back module I can hear the radio. Anyone know how to turn the headphone icon off - there doesn't seem to be an obvious button for it.... Even pressing the headphone / speaker button at the back has no effect....

Try messing with the rear controls. I have a '98 GL and my headphones icon stays on all the time. I do know my kids figured out something with the rear controls and I verbally banished them from touching those controls after we figured it out. Don't remember what we did though. It was something with the rear seat controls.

sorry to bring this thread back up, but I do know how to disable the rear controls. just press the '1' and '3' memory buttons on the radio simultaneously. the headphone icon will disappear and the rear controls will be disabled. They WILL come back on under certain circumstances, one of which is of course turning the radio on and off manually. I forget if it happens when turning the car off and on.
