Wire Panelish Problem?

Well guys, I got this Garmin for christmas and I really like this spot I picked out on the left hand side of the steering wheel. The classic problem though is that the wire from the Garmin stretches across everything and plugs into the cigarette lighter in the center. So what I was thinking was running the wire underneath the steering wheel and up behind those panels. Thats what I like to do but I am not sure if thats the best way to do it. So if you guys have any better ideas or know how to remove those panels I would greatly appreciate the help.

k let me see if i understand this... a Garmin is some sort of GPS unit?? and you want to mount it ON the steering wheel? Can you clarify what you are doing. I can definitly help you to remove the pannels to run your wires if this is indeed what you are trying to do. Let me know.

lol, A Garmin is like a Tom Tom but cheaper. Its pretty much a little GPS unit with a 2" screen. Sorry if it sounded like I wanted to attach it to the steering wheel but where I would really like it to go is up on the dash to the left of the steering wheel. I hope that helps? The problem though is the wire to the Garmin stretches across the steering wheel, across the stick, and finally into the cigarette lighter. I'll take any help or suggestions.

lol I thought the placement sounded off... I know what boat your in I put a shift light under my pillar pod in that same place... What I would do if I was you depending on the size of the wires comming out of the Garmin would A) I would cut the cigarette lighter adapter off the wires and drill a small hole in your dash directly behind the 2 inch screen of the Garmin so you wouldn't see the hole and run your wires through the hole and tie into 12 volt accessorie in your fuse box... Be carefull when drilling this hole... open your fuse box pannel and put in a flashlight and look where your drill bit will be comming through the dash and that it isnt going to hit anything important. If you cant hide the fact that your drilling through your dash and it will look like shit you can also run these wires down through where your driverside pillar meets your dash- remove your pillar by pulling on it carefully not to break any clips (it should just pop right off) run your wires down through where the pillar meets the dash then you may have to trim your pillar to make room for the wires... Hopefully this helps it asll depends on the size of your wires if you want i can send you pics of how I did it... You may want to do it another way as well.
