I've been told the misfire may be caused by an ignition coil, can anyone tell me where the coil is located in the engine (2000 infiniti I30)?

...misfire may be caused by an ignition coil,...
Possibly six of em sit on 6 sparkplugs.
Test try first with new 2$ plugs, as misfire may be caused also by an faulty plug(s). Also there should be 6 functional injectors; verify that the code is correct before spending lot$

The ignition coils are prone to premature failure on your car. In fact there is an updated ignition coil to help correct this problem. They also issued a TSB on this problem TSB# 01-060 01-059 01-052
When the coil begins to fail it is very intermittent and difficult to diagnose. It can store codes P1320 or p0300 through p0306
I did a search on d-tips.com (http://d-tips.com) for your problem and the ignition coil was the number one pattern failure for the symptoms you described.
hope this helps

I had one ignition coil replaced. Is it really necessary to replace all six if the misfire is only detected at one cylinder? What does TSB mean? My car is also having another problem and i've taken it to two mechanics to have diagnostic checks done but no codes are coming up. I guess the engine reads everything is ok, but the problem that has been occuring is that when i attempt to turn the engine on, the vehicle starts but then turns off. It doesn't seem to have this problem when i first start the engine in the morning but during the the rest of the day. If anyone might know what's going on, please let me know..
Thanks.
Thanks.

- Is it really necessary to replace all six
- What does TSB mean?
- vehicle starts but then turns off. ...during the the rest of the day....
- No. Old 5 may start causing problems, dont worry.
- TSB Technical Service Bulletin. Factory info/action plan for known problems. See links at 'Favorite links' http://www.cardomain.com/ride/748507/1
- Possibly contact problem in connectors, grounding and/or relays; see pages 10 & 14. Engine cont relay is known to cause this... see page 5.
To diagnose one may swap relays = problem moves or disappears. Relays are all color coded, same color may be swapped. DIY pull out, swap. After spotting the problem, buy a new one.
Check charge voltage. Check/renew vacuum hoses. Measure Fuel pressure when warm.

Thanks for the quick response! I'll look into these possibilities.
