I have a 2000 Tacoma 2.7 Prerunner Ext. cab, Non-TRD with 128,500 miles. I bought it used at around 110,000; it was shipped to me in Puerto Rico from Florida. During rain on any road, paved or un-paved I have had the need for a locker in the rear. The truck performs perfectly fine on the beach and mud its just wet pavement where I get stuck it its a hill; I've driven right on the beach and with no problems and a 4x4 Durango that was with me got stuck in the sand. I need the E-locker because im getting stuck on just about every hill in the rain because i need to stop for a light or something like that.....
Is there anyway to install or modify my stock differential so it will lock? I know a 4x4 conversion is not worth it, if I go to the toyota dealers they will rip me off like crazy, they wanted $860 just for TRD headers, noting else, i just turned around and walked away, i dont wanna bother asking the price of a e-locker kit. Are there any kits or conversions that exist?........i know i could get it locked permanantly but i dont want to do this because my handling will degrade greatly, i already have a hard enough time parking in the spaces here that are all small.

you dont wanna know what kind of hell it would be to put the factory electric locker in the back , first just to mention that its a totalyl diffrent 3rd member , for what you seem to want , id suggest some sort of clutch type LSD , i prefer the eaton carbon clutch , but to each thier own , theres also many other aftermarket carriers that offer electronic lockers , detroit makes the electrac , open normally , and full locker when engaged , auburn gear makes the same type thing , and ARB makes an air locker , which still does the same thing , just uses air instead of electricity
good luck
