I'm looking for 3.8 V-6 cylinder numbering in order to replace 4th cylinder spark plug (to fix PO304 code - causing engine light ON).
Before tracing spark plugs wires, maybe somebody could tell me, please, which cylinder is which number?
Thanks.

Hello
Facing the front of the vehical. The front plugs: 1,2,3
The rear plugs: 6,5,4
4 should be the closest to the driver.
Some one speak up if I'm wrong. This is from memory of a headgasket job last winter.
Regards
Dan

Haynes manual says that number 4 plug is on the front of the engine on the passenger side, the far left plug. That is the plus furthest from the driver, unless different years have different configurations.
My 96 is as follows.
Rear of engine closest to firewall starting on passengers side 1-2-3
Front of engine, nearest radiator starting on passengers side 4-5-6

Hello, Dan
Thanks for your response.
But I'm not sure you're right:
the picture of engine on the website below -
http://community.webshots.com/album/201931518cScpNK
shows quite opposite numeration.
May be you have other sources to look at?
Please advise.
Thanks.

Hello and thank you for your reply.
That's more like it.I was able to replace a faulty spark plug - now engine runs OK.
Thanks a lot.
