I am having trouble with my JGC Limited 4.7L. It has distributerless ignition. This morning it wouldn't start. The engine turns fine but it doesn't even try to start. I'm guessing that it is the ignition module but I don't even know what it looks like on this truck and none of the parts stores have it. Dealer item of course!!. I'd like to check the spark to see if it is even firing but I am unsure of the procedure. The coils sit directly of the plugs so I can use the old test of pulling a sparkplug wire and checking for spark there. Does anyone know what I should do?? Any other info. would be nice also. Thanks.

You should check for error codes. The 4.7 has a problem with the CPS (Crank Position Sendor) $50. It is a common failure. Check this forum for no start problems and read about the CPS. You can hold in your "Trip Odometer Reset" button as you turn you key to run and retreive some error codes that way. The ignition module is the PCM, it is a $500 item from the dealer, unless your GC has less than 80,000 miles and is less that 8 years old, then it's covered under the Extended Federal Emmissions warranty, good luck getting Chysler to honor it though! The stealership will make you spend an $80 for a diagnostic fee, charge you $500 to change your fuel pump, basically shake you down for every repair they can stick you with before they will suspect the PCM, then if it has gone over 80,000 miles during that time, then it isn't covered under warranty!
