My spirit recently began experiencing a problem where at 1/4-1/2 throttle it noses over, doesn't stall, just cuts out until i either let off the gas or floor it.. If i nail it it comes alive rather well and if i drive normal its undetectable. however i don't drive normal. hehehe. Anyone ever experience this in the past? fuel filter and tuneup are 3 months old. No check engine lights either and no start issues at all.. Always fires up nice. However sometimes the idle get stuck around 20K to 15k and takes a while to drop. then its fine and then it does it again.. That also started too.. Is it maybe a bad CPU or throtle position sensor? Gas mileage is excellent!

I see that nobody has replied to you here, I had a similar problem and it got real bad before I finally figure out what it was on mine it started of as a hesitation under lite loadand if I backed off it ran fine or accelerated hard it was fine, and it finally got to jerking me back and forth until I hit the accelerator hard. What I found out was that the Catalytic converter was the culprit (it pluged up on me and was restricting the exhaust flow hense causing the hesitation) after replacing the catalytic converter all was well till I let my daughter drive the car.... ( Bad news after that the water pump/alternator belt broke and she didn't stop till she got home drove it for 5 miles and apparently cracked the head) and possibly burned up the engine, although it starts and runs well it pumps the coolant out of the radiator with air which would either indicate a crack in the head, blown head gasket or crack in the cylinder wall. or all of the above.
Well I guess that'll teach me to let the kids drive my vehicles...

Parkavenuechrome, how many miles? You may want to consider a tune up first, then perhaps the timing belt. Marco's comment about the catalytic converter might be right also, although from what I've seen if the cat's plugged it won't run at high rpms.
Marco Sr, let's hope it is only a head gasket.....
