psychotic immobiliser??

I have a 1995/96 Canadian-built [to my knowledge] GrandC with the 4-litre 6-cylinder engine. I have both keys [original and valet key] with remotes [infrared].
3 weeks ago the water pump went down and had to be replaced.
6 days after leaving the mechanic, the GC decided NOT to respond to my desire for it to come to life.
I left it in the evening and all was OK.
In the morning...
- the central locking [infrared] worked.
- there was power to all systems.
- I could turn the ignition.
- the fuel pump worked.
NO ENGINE START.
The mechanics [not Jeep specialists] have come to the conlusion that it is the immobiliser that went mad.
We cant find it [at least without disassembling the entire car].
Neither do they know WHAT to do.
The thing is hidden in a nifty way, as they crawled through the engine bay and were unable to find the cables "feeding" the thing with power.
I've seen many posts about the alarm system, but I'd be grateful for advice regarding the immobiliser itself.
Besides my desperation to get the beats working again--it is amazingly funny to read various methods of getting the GC alarm system to work or to kill it.
I AM waiting for a forum with advice of standing on one leg, yelling the name of a long-dead Indian hero and pressing both remotes in repetitive fashion... LOL. Is this car THAT weird???

2 Recent articles on the transponders said try and blow air into lock something to do with dirt. Also those gasoline speed passes will interfer with some security systems if they're to close. Have you tried disconnecting battery for several minutes to allow computer to reset?

Hello,
My locks were NEVER used, so we got no way of resetting the comp/security via key-in-lock.
I'm considering taking out the locks to have them cleaned/repaired.
the previous owner used the infrared remote ONLY.

The only way i know how to de-activate the immobilizer is to connect the battery, insert the key in the driver or pass front door (back hatch works too) and turn the key towards unlock. This sensor(located at each door lock) must be tripped before the vehicle will start. I guess you could always pull the door panel and trip it yourself..
