Recently the door locks or switches quit working. I replaced a blown fuse, and now the switches will lock but will not unlock. The key FOB will unlock the drivers side door but none of the others. There are no relays in the panel that I could find. I can here something click when I accuate the unlock button. Can someone tell me how the locks work or are wired? Is the passenger, sliding and rear door in series?
Thanks

Hi
I have a simular problem in my 95 windstar. I dont have any relays either and none of my door locks work so I have given up wishing. I too have posted with inquiries on this forum so if you come across any tips please post it so i too might have the comforts of having working door locks. I bought my windstar used and it never did have a key fob.
Good Luck on your quest.

The 95 Windstar has relays under the dash on the drivers side. There may be a plastic cover covering the relays. The second row on the far left is the door lock relay. On the far right is the door unlock relay. The sliding door has a relay third from the right is the memory lock relay. The points are probably burned so the relay isn't working. This is probably what you hear clicking.
The last time I was at the bone yard I pulled fuses, maxie fuses, and relays
from a late model Ford vehical.
Regards
Dan

just finished reading the last post and I wanted to clarify the relay situation. I dont have relays under the dash there is two spots for the relays to go but there is not any wiring going into the area where the relays would be. Can anyone figure that one out. LOL.

Do you have a dig cam? If you do snap a pic under the dash on the drivers side and PM me. I'll give you my privet email address to send me the pic to.
What is the production date of your 95?

Good morning
Thank you so much for responding to this post. I am also glad to find someone else out there with no relays under the dash, for awhile there I was beginning to think that someone might have pulled the wiring harness out for some reason which still might be the case.
I will send you a picture for sure as soon as its light enough this morning but when I say there is no wiring going to the back of the relay fuse panel under the dash with cover on it its a fact, I have tried to even put a relay in the door lock position but the relay wont stay in as there is nothing to hold it in place. I have the original users manual for my winny and it doesnt have those relays listed in the fuse and relay diagram parts list. I can scan those pictures for you too and post them too if you would like. I also have the hanyes manual if its a help.

Where do I find out the production date? Is it located on a label under the hood?

bhowell is the one that doesn't have the relays. I do have the relays under the dash on the drivers side.
I'm thinking that you may have an early production 95 which my be OBD1 instead of OBDII. This is just a guess.
Never the less, you should have relays, just a different location.

Try PriincessAuto.com. They have FOBs. I bought one for $25 Canadian from them. It has 4 buttons and my original only has 3 but it works with the exception of having a unless button for a feature I do not have.
Princessauto is a legitamate store with a location in Mississauga Ontario and several other locations in Canada but they also do mail order service. Having seen the place and purchasing from them I would have no hesitaion to use them via mail (but of course they are close to me so I don't need to). They also sell a lot of automotive tools at surplus prices.
Download the catalogues.
Just for the record I have no affiliation with them.

Apparently Ford incorporated the relays in to the keyless remote reciever which can be found behind the cup holder and cassette holder bin in the front dash. I picked up a replacement from the junk yard and the locks are working again. I will have to reprogram the key FOB to the new recieved.
Hi Cleek, this is verbatim from the '96 OEM manual:1. Ignition to Run. Momentarily short the two terminals of the program connector taped to the wire assembly and located behind the glove compartment. All doors should lock and then unlock. Remove shorting pin.2. Press any button on keyless entry remote transmitter. All doors should lock and then unlock to verify the keyless entry remote is programmed. If no response, try again up to three times maximum.3. Repeat above step to program up to four transmitters.4.Turn ignition off. All doors should lock, then unlock.5. Check operation.Note: All previously programmed keyless entry transmitters are erased during this process, so any you currently have need to be reprogrammed during this process.
Good luck. Bob
