This topic has been well documented in this forum. Search for all of the details but in a nutshell the problem is most likely the hatch door sensors. To get to them you need to remove the inside door panel. There is one sensor switch per side.

Proper periodic lubrication of the latch mechanisms will stave off this problem, most likely forever.

Sprayed the sensors in the doors with WD40 on my mom's '98 to shut the lights off, and it worked for a few months. Removed the bulbs after that.

The "key in ignition" buzzer never shuts off until you drive faster than about 20 mph. The fix for that is to hit the volume up on the stereo.

If the car is beeping and lights will not go off the problem lies with the driver side door.
I have gone through all of my doors, including the sliding door, and either replaced or lubed up the actuators.
You could also opening one door at a time and then shutting it to see if the lights go off. Problem with this is you may have more than one door where the acuators are stuck closed.
Look for other posting on the forums on how this is done, it is well documented.

My '95 Windstar had this same problem. I suspected the rear hatch or the sliding door but it was the driver's door. $200 later the dinger has stopped and the lights now go out.
