Side door panel removal

I have a 2000 Windstar, and the lock actuators in the rear sliding doors are not working. How do I remove the inside panel? Can I do it from inside with the door shut?
Is getting the actuator a tough jog on the sliding door? Also, How can I deactivate the auto lock feature on the 2000? It seems like I have to go to the dealer.
Thanks

I have not taken the inner panels off the sliding door.....and I do not have the auto-lock on my '96.

What I would recommend trying first (just because it is easiest) is to clean the contact surfaces for the little spring contacts that are on the front edge of the door. I am not sure if your newer windstar has the same exact setup as my '96.... But I have 4 little spring buttons on the front inner edge of the door (I only have 1 sliding door). These match up with smooth metal contact surfaces on the door pillar. This is how the electrical contact to the electric lock actuator inside the door is made. I have had the spring mounted buttons get caught on something and get bent out of line with the mating surface.....and also dirt can prevent them from making contact.
I would check to make sure these are clean....springy.....and not bent before taking anything apart....or buying any parts.

Same set-up on my 99 as with wiswind's. I have auto lock - (I think - it locks automatically at about 5 km/hr ?).

It sounds like you may need to auto lock de-programmed. If so pretty much a dealer - job.
