cars worth more than your house?

There is a guy who lives a couple streets away, in a dumpy old (and I mean OOOOLD) 4-5 room house, made of unpainted wood, with only a carport and driveway; yet he owns a beautiful red Viper RT-10, AND a nice-looking red Plymouth Prowler! His house couldn't have cost him more than 30,000! Yet his cars cost him over 130,000 for sure! WHY????? It makes no sense to me. And those are the only cars he owns. Imagine going to work in the rain IN YOUR VIPER???? I don't get it..............:eek: :alien: :smoker:

Eh, I probably would do the same. If I had loot, I'd probably have my cars look better then my house. Not that it would be the right way of doing things.

Reminds me of one of the first cars i bought. I was riding my bicycle through a trailer park after I crashed the good ol VW when I spotted a 71 sattelite.
I called the number on the car wheen i got home and it was his neihbor (who told me the owner couldnt afford a phone) I went to look at the car, decided i liked it and when I went into the trailer to get the tittle therre were all kinds of pics of rare cars on the wall like 340 challengers, 440cudas chargers and when I asked about them he said they were his other cars in storage!
This from a guy living with his wife and two kids in a trailer about 1 and 1/2 the size of my bedrooom. If he would have sold his cars he could have had a damn fine house. He only sold the sattelite becuse it was unoriginal and therefore a low value car. I paid 4200$ for it and have had it since fall of 93
and it is by far the best value I have ever owned auto wise.

It's close, A guy downtown has a 90'-95' BMw 525i and a 2001 M5, he lives in a beat up duplex.

I know a guy who owns a '55 Chev, '68 Camaro, '99 WRX, Stock car,boat, caravan and 4 H.D bike's ......but no house :confused: :confused: ...not married either which helps !!!!

Where does he live then? His boat or the back seat of his WRX?

That seems screwed up to my sensibilities, but to each his own. If thats how he wants to spend his cash, then he's free to do so.

not exactly true, i saw a black Z8 today, which i almost cried like a baby when i saw it. and i noticed that it had tons of bugs and rock chips in the front, so i continued on my way to work and told my friend about it, and he said that its his friends dads. he made millions upon millions in an internet mini mall scandal. he got sued for it but he made so much money that he paid it off and still had enought for that car. he's lucky!

I don't know anyone who goes to that extreme, but one guy I know (well, my friend knows him) has just an average, medium house, but a mint '70 GTO Judge 4-speed, 2 Bricklin SV-1's (possibly 3), and a couple more regular cars.

there are alotta nice cars around my neighbourhood.... none of them come close to the price of the houses..... the guy that lives across the street from us has an underground garage that'll fit like 10 cars.... and he has a red Ferrari F355 spyder and a black Porsche 911, but i think his house is worth like more than $5 million... so even all his cars put together won't equal the price of the house

check my thread i started in completely off topic, its about my avatar, and its called New Avatar!!!! it just shows the different ones i found and which ones you think i should use, but i like this one for now.

I'm just moving into my new neighbourhood (boarding in a house for college) here in Ont. It's a pretty rich neighbourhood, I've done a little driving around, most people have 3 car garages, I can't wait to see what's in them. One buddy has a new S4, old S4, Jag XJS convertible, and a couple more cars. I'll keep you posted. :)

I'm in a suburb of Barrie. I'm going to Georgian college here, and every year they put on the largest outdoor car show in North America. The students get put on teams by manufacturer and run the show. I'm on the Porsche team!! (no Ferrari team :() Anyway, it's sept. 21-23...anyone within a reasonable distance should come out! I'll let you sit in the Porsches........:D:D

BTW...I had a sweet sighting day last Sunday. I was going down to Mississauga to meet some extended family. First, in Barrie, I saw a red Viper GTS (almost hit the guy too...you know how you naturally drive the way you're looking...you know the story). Then, on the 400 going south, I looked over and saw a yellow 360 Modena blowing the doors off a black S2000. Then, driving around Miss. with my Aunt, I saw a red 360 Modena in one guy's driveway (took a pic, will have it up soon), a yellow 355 Spyder that drove past us, and finally my very first ever Lambo Countach (took a pic of that as well)! So, needless to say, I had a good day last Sunday :D:D

Tell me more about this Porsche thing, I'm a reasonable distance away.

The students are separated into teams by manufacturer. The students put on the car show. I'm on the Porsche team, along with 4 or 5 others. We will have new Porsches on display there. Also....this is NOT final, so don't get your hopes up...but we may have a race car driver in giving people rides. Come to the show!! If anything just to meet me :D

OK the race car driver will be here giving drives on Sunday, the 23rd. We might have a 911 GT1 there as well. I get to ride around the block in one or more of the cars! :D:D

Im not THAT far.....

Barrie, about an hour north of Toronto, take the 401 to the 400, then once you get to Barrie, exit at Ducksworth/Georgian Drive. Right there at the college, you can't miss it. Today was the first day of the show, I have talked that much in a day in my life! Chamoised all the Porsches several times since in rained off and on, and sat in them a whole bunch :D

Also, went for a ride in a new Boxster S yesterday...that was fun :D

My home and place of part time occupation (a United Artists cinema) is close to the "ghetto" part of town. Out of this part of town always you can see such vehicles as : Lotus Esprit (80s), Lexus SC430, Mercedes, BMWs, and a couple of Porsches....The Lexus is most recent.....the homes back there can be better described as shacks, because I actually watched one fall down during a storm!!! But the cars parked next to these shacks are amazing!! I know for a fact its drugs :) In fact, usually, I go home smelling like pot from all the potheads that come in to the late nite showings!

there isn't a car in my town worth more than my house. my house is worth 300k+, and the nicest car in town is some guys diablo.

i think our 4 cars put together will only equal like 10% the price of our house, LOL

there are some pretty cool cars in my neighborhood, a ferrari F50, a few porsche turbos (one older), an aston martin of some kind, a new sl500, and a cl600. my fave is the cl600- so cool!
