M3 torque

I am wondering about the amount of "seat of your pants" feel that the current 3.2L M3 coupes can bring about.... It would seem to me that having only 262 lbs.-ft. TQ wouldn't put you in the seat very much. I drive a car now that has 280 TQ, and it doesn't give the forward thrust/force that say a 545i with 325HP/330TQ would make you feel.... So why do people tend to talk about the 333HP M3 as being a car with great amounts of thrust? I understand that it will hit 60 MPH in about 4.8 sec, but do you even feel anything when it accelerates?

Trust me, you can feel it when you are really pushing it, but one of the best parts about the M3 is just how fast you can get going without really realizing it. When I first had my car and was just getting used to it, there were many times I would get going 80mph + on the freeway and wouldn't have realized it without looking at my guages. BMW's engine design doesn't call for large amounts of torque. If you want that feeling you might want to look into the C55 AMG, which uses a V8 creates around 370lb-ft.
