Mercedes S 500 L - 1995 - 38.000Km on it (German model)
Does anyone knows how much Amps. this car drain the battery parking
at garage. I use very little this car, maybe once a months and even a brand new battery with 92 AMP go out in two weeks parking.
No ligths on, no trunks lights on, nothing on.
I will apreciate any comments.

hi there
normally the car should have a loss of about 50mamps, if u have a CD in the rear, check to see if it has no oxydation on the power supply, this is one cause of high batt drainage

Dear EDWIM :
Thanks for your information and help. Yes, I have a CD magazine in the rear trunk and I checked it. It´s OK with no oxidation. You said 50mamp
of loss and I ´m understanding that is each hour. Am I correct? If yes
I will loss a 1.2 AMP/day and a 16.8 AMP in two weeks. If my battery has 82 AMP I´m loosing almost 25%.on it. Correct me if I´m wrong.
I will apreciate your answer. Take care with the Belgiam winter; here in Brazil now it´s summer and carnival times.
See yá..

One thing you may wish to try is to see if one or more cells in the battery are dead (test with a hydometer). This would duplicate the condition you are having.
After you check the battery then it could be a short to ground. I wounder if there is diode pack (voltage regulator) in the alternator that is faulty? You could try disconnecting the alternator the next ime you park and see if the drain still occures.

Dear JAWLADAR:
Thanks in advance for yours informations. I already have checked my battery cells and all are OK. It is brand new DELCO 82 AMP battery.Even
brand new I doubled check it. (Hidrometer test/OK). Your ideia about the alternator diode sounds good. I´m going to do this test and will let you know. Take care wyth winter time there in Pensilvania: as I wrote to another friend at Belgia, here in Brazil it`s summer and carnival times.

Oh! one more thing. Check that the light in the trunk is switching off. Remove the bulb to test. If these all check OK then try disconnecting the battery cables when you park. If the battery holds it's charge, it will tell you there is a shorted circuit component somewhere in the electrical system or something is drawing more current than it should. I still suspect a Diode which most of the time open but sometime they close and leak back to ground.
Enjoy your summer but stay out of the sun. In other words use an umbrella went you are looking at all those bathing beauties.:-)

Dear JAWLADAR:
I don´t know if you readed all my posts about this matter . I already did
all the possible tests like trunk lights, cigarettes lighter, radio off etc. When I disconnet the cables, the battery hold steady 12V for a long time, indicating that it it`s OK. ( It´s a brand new DELCO). I agree with you about your diode suspecting but we should pay attention in a sugestion of edMERCAMG about the normal batt draining at Mercedes S 500. It´s a lot of modules and memories to suplay and he said that a 50mAmp/h of power is spending for to keep this toys onn. As I wrote I am going to do the diode test and will let you know. About the beach´s umbrella I will follow your advice.Keep in touch. If you want a personal E-mail see my profile. Thanks again.
