Im going to take an edumacted guess and say:

Heads, cams, and boost levels to produce less peak hp but more torque accross a wider rev range.

all done to suit the heavier Forrester.

But I would assume a WRX engine would bolt right in.
or that basic mods like boost increases and exhuast and Turbo changes would have pretty much the same effect on the forrester as they do on the WRX.

It seems as these blokes dont get the GT
There seems to be a bit the yanks arent getting. Anyhow thanks, Thanks Moppie the wife will be rapped to know I can boost the Forrester to say 300+Hp. A very nice sleeper. :flash:

You know you could buy the flat 6 version (you must get it in Aussie?) and then throw another Toyota blower on it. :D

That would annoy a few Turbo Scubi fans to.

Iv actualy seen a Forrester with a loud WRX type exhasut sticking out the back, and Subaru isnt really a large company, so Im sure they'll be cutting costs where ever possible.
This means using as many shared companet as possible.

However I just realised the Forrester is Legacy based, so I asusme its basicly a slightly detuned version of the engine in the GT or RS Legacy. :D
Which means getting it to 300hp should be quite easy.

Mate, they are basicaly the same engines, parts are interchangable with the 96-01 WRX's. There is a good infobase at www.gtrydaz.com (http://www.gtrydaz.com/) . Most peeps have added a 3" exhaust and using a WRX TD04L turbo on 15psi to produc some nice high figures.
