93 Cutlass Ciera-Huge Water Leak

I have big puddles on the floor after it rains mostly on the Drivers Side Front and Back.
I did a little test and poured water on the windshield with no leak but when I poured water into the Vent near by the windshield wipers... I then pulled the Carpet up and I could see the water started leaking into the Car from under the dash near the pedals onto the floor...when I stop pouring it stops leaking.
Does anyone know what this could be? What is that vent for and how could it be leaking? Is there a recall for this problem or can it be patched?
Thanks,
Rylee

It might be worth a look to check the cowl drain holes, you should be able to see them from underneath the car along the firewall. The water from the a/c unit drains out there also. Sometimes they get clogged with leaves and twigs.

Thanks for the Reply Mrbizness1. No room for me to look under the car. Looks like I'm going to have to take the car to the shop. The cowl is built into the car and I was not able to take a look to see if it was blocked. Is it possible for unblock the cowl myself?
Thanks.

If you can get the Car on a lift, you should be able to blow it out with a air hose.
Thanks.

Those vents up there allow fresh air to get into the car. but chances are drain wholes are blocked and water runs around something and into the car. newer cars generally have an air filter there so its some cleaner air. it also allows electronics in the car to cool down a bit. but i dont think water will hit any of that
