hey everybody, i got another question!!
on my 91 g, the damn sunroof leaks & won't go back.
it will go up, but not "slide" back into the roof.
i hear the motor, and if i give it some help with my
my hand, it does go all the ay back into the roof.
then i have to give it a hand to close it.

I checked the seals(that soft black "trim"), it looks
ok. (no here anything i can spray on it to maybe soften it
up a bit, or to make the seal water tight?

about it not going back:
could there be some worn part in there, because
the motor works to lift the roof up perfect?

anyway, thanks to anybody that can offer some advice!

Try spraying the tracks and runners with CRC as it might just be stiff from dirt etcover the years. Dont use oil as this will only pick up the dirt and dust more.

Sounds like the motor is OK and trying to do its job alright.

If the seals are still soft and have no nicks/marks in them they should be fine, if not replace them or get the hose out and see where its coming from and seal it up. Most likely getting under the seal between the body at the front.

Rico,
The G20's usually leak due to a little rust build up under the metal trim around the sunroof glass in the front. The leak may also be that the rear drain pain is stuck in the back of the track, which could also be the cause of your sunroof not going back easily. The g20's are not known fo having sunroof motor problems and they have pretty good draining systems, So, I would check the first two things I mentioned. The last thing you could check is make sure all the drains are operating properly. Simply open the sunroof and poor water at all four corners of the sunroof body opening and then look under the car and make sure the water is draining from all four drain hoses. If your wondering, I have been working as a service advisor for an Infiniti dealer in South Florida for the past 7 years. Just bought my first G20, a 2002 with the sports package.

I had the same problem with my 92 G20. The sunroof wouldn't slide back into the roof. All you would hear is the motor spinning. I removed the sunroof motor/gearbox and found an adjustable clutch in the gearbox assembly. First, I marked the original location of the screw on the clutch, then tightened it down about 3/4 of a turn. That clutch is in there so you don't strip out the gears when the roof comes to a stop so don't tighten too far. Anyway, I reinstalled it and it's been working fine for over four years now. Hope you're as lucky as I was.

fellas,
I fixed the leak! it was coming into the car by way of the
motor gear at the front of the sunroof. Great!
now the problem is THE SUNROOF WON'T OPEN!!!!!

Now when i press either of the buttons, i get NOTHING~
no motor sounds, nothing at all.....
i checked the wires, everything looks good, its all connected at least...
how do i figure out what the F@#@$ is going on?

I have the same problem with my sunroof but with mine it
seems to slide back more on the rh side than the left like it
is sticking. So I havent opened it for months. Its one of those
things that pisses you off so much you cant be F@#ked with
fixing it. I feel your pain Rico.
