Couple of questions about my civic.

I have a '99 civic dx and my muffler rusted off and came lose. A friend of mine's father wass supposed to put a new one on for me if I bought one. I now am $80 in the hole and he seems to be avoiding me, so I am going to do it, myself.
I went in my trunk to get the jack, seeing as the car is extremely low to the ground and I can't get under. To my amazement, there was none. Is there a secret place where this is held that I dont' know about?
Also, this part is oem and should bolt directly on. I notice there are only two holes, so I guess all I have to do is remove the stock hardware and put on the new one right in its place? No welding required?
Normall, I wouldn't ask such stupid quesions and would go at it myself, but the car was more of a 'gift' and my father still claims ownership. He basically bought it for me because he is controlling and wants to be able to monitor what I do with it. He won't let me do it, myself because he thinks it takes an expert mechanic to put on a muffler. Either way, it's going on tomorrow.

jack the car on any of the 4 jack points under the car, or anywhere on the frame. muffler install is just as you said it and a few rubber hangers. get under and look. its easy.

You need a jack to do this, no doubt. You can go to an autoparts store and buy a tire jack (scissors jack) for around $10, but I would recommend a hydraulic jack for working under the car.
Most garages wont charge you a lot to put on a muffler, like $20-30 at most, so i'd try to shop around for the best deal. Don't go to name brand places like Firestone or Midas, they'll overcharge you for small things like that.

I don't have a jack
Thats odd. I have like 5. I would let you borrow one if you live close in TX.

gnerally on a stock exhaust the muffler is welded so you are going to have to cut it off
