Anyone have an extra cold start injector laying around for an 85 vette?
Hate to go buy a new, only to find out it is not the problem.
Thank you

I don't have one but if you know where I can find one new, please let me know. What symptoms are you having that make you think that you need one? We are having starting (flooding) problems with our 85 and the injector is leaking down. Haven't had any luck finding a new one.

Well perhaps that is my problem.
It is real hard to crank up. More so when it's cold outside.
However when it does start it puffs some white smoke.
I read that the cold start injector worked for the first 8 seconds of the starting of the car. I timed this and it seems to take about 8 seconds before it wants to fire.
I installed all new injectors and the problem still persist.
The car has 117,000 miles on it. It feels very strong. Everything but the rear defroster and cruise works.......I have had the car for 10 years.
Thanks for the response and any future help.

It may not be the injector. It sounds more like the cold start switch. If it is starting hard then the switch probably isn't triggering the injector. The injectors themselves very rarely failed, more frequently it is the switch. By the way, those are readily available from Ecklers. The injectors are difficult to find if not impossible. We are searching for an injector for our '85.
Hope this helps.

Thank you for the reply.
Couple of questions....
Where is the switch located?
Is there a way to test it?
Thank you.

this one is for the wiring harness and you can trace it to the switch on the intake manifold. Sorry I couldn't find a good picture. I don't know how to test it, I don't have a service manual.

If it is hard to start cold, then the injector either isn't opening or the line is plugged. If it's not opening it is most likely the switch. I had to take mine to a dealer to have it tested.
Good luck with this.
