My pump whines, do any of you have similar issues? Also, have any of you done anything to improve your MPG's? I have a 99 2500, crew cab short box that gets about 14 on the highway. Sugestions welcome!!

Some people will say that the whine is a sign of the pump going but i disagree. Mine started whining last year mid december maybe or somewhere there, it even died on me one time going onto the highway and the whine got louder. I poured a bottle of methyl hydrate into the tank and the whine went away and i never did have any more problems with it, so it may have been just some water build up in the tank, and after thinking about it it made sense. With the added windchill of the increased speed on the highway it maybe started to ice up the water in the tank <shrugs>. It did whine a little after that now and then but only when it got real cold like -50ºc but hey , who wouldn;t whine at that temp lol. I would try pouring some methyl hydrate into the tank or at least some kind of water remover and see if that helps.

Try here to look at all we've been able to come up with on MPG savings: http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=335161&page=1&pp=15
