Lamborghni Murcielago easy, it's so streamlined and cut. How can anyone resist a lambo?

Never been a huge fan of Lambo, always thought Ferrari made better looking cars. Three cars im a little suprised at not seeing are the 360, 550/575m, and the F430, but it is understandable based on the prices of some of these cars.

I still love the McLaren F1 LM over all of the cars on that list. Maybe the performance and the history cloud my vision, but I just think that the McLaren is absolutely beautiful. It is a very unique car, and doesn't really take any styling cues from any of the major makes (Porsche, Ferrari, Lambo). I love this car, and in my mind it is still the pinnacle of the road-car, even if it has some real competition now.

A car I really don't like is the Veyron. Absolutely hideous. Where as the McLaren F1 is the world champion boxer of supercars, the Veyron is the steroid boosted "professional" wrestler of supercars. Its the difference between taste and wealth. O, and the front of the car reminds me of a pig.

The 360 Modena isnt a supercar.

Fine, most magazines consider it an "entry level" supercar, in a similar class as the Ford GT and Porsche 911 GT2. I still think its one of the best looking cars I've ever seen.

the db9 isnt a supercar. :grinno: the 360 modena is really really good looking and fast, but to be in the supercar "league" the car should go over 200 mph. it is sorta of an entry level supercar, but think of it like this, is the 360 comparable to cars like the Zonda, Enzo, Carrera GT, XJ220, McLaren F1??

Bugatti EB110 - too square. Does look very dramatic in the flesh though.
Bugatti Veyron - obese monstrosity. Best looking? Don't make me laugh.
Ferrari F40 - looks extremely purposeful, perfect dimensions, definitely in with a shout. Legendary shape.
Ferrari F50 - overstyled, loses some of the aggression of the F40.
Ferrari Enzo - form following function. Too angular, not what i'd call beautiful.
Lamborghini Countach - the bewinged late versions were too vulgar. The original must have been spectacular at the time.
Lamborghini Diablo - outrageous design. Love the 6.0 GT, and prefer the Diablo overall to newer Lambo's.
Lamborghini Murcielago - too clean, lacks the drama of previous Lambos.
McLaren Mercedes SLR - so vulgar with that big snout and big ass. The concept looked far nicer.
McLaren F1 - not a bad design but it does lack flair, wheels are too small.
Jaguar XJ220 - bloated, uninspiring, doesn't do it for me at all.
Porsche 959 - looks too ordinary in the company of some of these cars.
Porsche Carrera GT - the pick of the bunch for me. Looks absolutely beautiful without being OTT. In black, with red leather. Thanks :)
Pagani Zonda - overstyled. Hideous ass, no way it's the best looking.
Saleen S7 - not bad looking, but not especially good looking either. Unoriginal.

I really dont think the murcielago looks that bad. I had one pass me last week, and i had a diablo pass me over the weekend, and both of them gave me goosebumps.

I'd have to say the diablo was better looking tho.

I think one of the best looking if not the very best is the carrera gt. I watched the top gear that showcased it, and it was just beautiful

NewyorkKopter

For me though #1 is the S7 just because it's one of those rare supercars that isn't easily spotted. It has a great aura and performance wise it can put out more torque then whp which most supercars don't even come close to. Also 2650 lbs is amazing...

Spot on. The Miura is easily the sexiest Lambo of all time, if not the sexiest car of all time. Absolutely love it.

NewyorkKopter
10-24-2005, 04:58 PM
o yea the Miura has really sexy curves. The S7 has a wonderful shape and I think it could do much more if it had a diffrent engine. The car looks good but, as soon as you turn that ignition key, that muscle sound just doesn't suit the car. And it wouldn't hurt to use a more revvy DOHC V8.

jcsaleen
10-25-2005, 02:52 PM

Saleen sacrifices nothing anything as far as performance. That car has one of the best engines on the market + they can't use chevy can they?

If the Lamborghni Murcielago Roadster was one of the picks I would have definitly chosen that one. Given the choices the Carrera GT is by far the most beautiful.

Kind of off topic but isn't there a 1000hp version of the Twin Turbo S7 this year? I'd be interested to see how IT measures up to the other top supercars of the day if the "old" 750hp model can hit 220mph...or was it more?

Molser & ultima's are pretty crazy as far as track and drag times...

tru they can't use a chevy, but come on, a OHV in a supercar?? the 1st time I saw it in person I thought it was a really really good kit car because of the sound. That engine sound is awesome in muscle cars, and a few other cars but it doesn't fit the flair of a $400,000 car

Spot on. The Miura is easily the sexiest Lambo of all time, if not the sexiest car of all time. Absolutely love it.Okay in your first post you heavily critize the look of the Enzo, Murcielago, even F50 :eek7: but this lengthy and boring oldy is one of the sexiest cars of all time. Lets be honest, who prefers the look of the Miura over a freakin F50 :disappoin, Anyways my pick would have to be the Enzo, theres just nothing like it, I love that 3 nosed look it has and that signature Ferrari red, ooooooooohhhhhhh. I love it. 2nd would have to be the Carrera, and 3rd goes to the S7. All of these cars are amazing looking discluding the XJ220 (jay did get one thing right, it is pretty uninspiring), and I don't recall off hand what a 959 looks like, but it's probably pretty dope. I definetely thought you should have included the V12 Vanquish, that would have gotten my choice.

Great post

First of all, buddy, looks are subjective. And i would bet you that more people find the Miura beautiful than the F50. The Miura is often named the most beautiful car of all time, with reason. I've never even heard the F50 being mentioned for such an accolade.

Honestly I think the old GT40s are better looking then the Miura, and I don't think the GT40 is the best looking car out there either. Honestly, I think the two best looking cars on the road are the Aston Martin DB7 Vantage, and the Ferrari 575m. The Aston Martin because it is so dignified in all that it does. It isn't overly flashy or showy, and just exudes charm and elegance. The Ferrari for similar reasons. It isn't trying too hard to look good, it just does.

I don't think the Enzo was ever supposed to be a beautiful car, it was supposed to be a really fast car. I like the function before form approach when I'm driving a car, but not when Im looking at one.

Im a little suprised at how popular the S7 is. Its an aggressively good looking car, but I would have thought the Carrera GT or something of that sort would have done better.

O, and jcsaleen, the McLaren F1 LM wasn't the competition version of the car, it was a road going version to commemorate the McLaren F1 GTR's victories at LeMans.

i think one of the reasons why I like it so much is that it looks like a Group C Racer, and I've always loved Group C

As far as the Miura, just look at those curves

drunken monkey
10-28-2005, 09:53 AM
the problem with the miura is that it is rather 2 dimensional in it's design.
what looks like a mass of curves turns into something that is rather rectangular when viewed away from the side 3/4 views.
on the other hand the GT40 is curvey all over, in all directions which makes it in my eyes, much better looking.

As for the F50, i seem to recall most people calling it one of the ugliest ferrari cars...
anyway.
it might not be a modern supercar, or even a supercar of it's time either but my vote will always go to the DB4GT Z.
if it has a to be a modern can then the good old LP400 is my pick of the wedges.

This shape is so-so?

Yes...

I've got it now. It's to plain for me that's why. It reminds me of a watered down GT40.

Look at the cars I like. They're very cut in their design. Ex TVR sagaris & S7 competition.

NewyorkKopter

tru, cut cars look better to some extent, but the Miura's shape is classic. Its a legend.

Come on that's breathtaking. I prefer these classi cars over newer ones liek the F50 just because they have so much soul in them and they are so pure in what they do, theres no traction control and onboard controls just the driver and the road.

The ferraris are beautiful, but I tend to think of them as classics instead of supercars even though they really are supercars.

deadbolt_35
12-01-2005, 11:01 PM
just to put in my two cents...Miura is classic and Aston Martins are the best looking, sexiest, classiest, whatever you want to call it, cars on the road today.
The problem with all the cars on the poll is that they're all uninspired. Their designs are too purpose-built, and that's the way they're supposed to be. Of course they all have aggressive, breathtaking bodies because that's the design that's the most areodynamic. They all have fantastic designs because they have shapes that we rarely see in everyday life, but they all lack what makes a really good looking car: a soul...the artistic genius of the designer.

deadbolt_35
12-01-2005, 11:11 PM
i voted for the murcielago, by the way.
it has a very sleek, clean, but at the same time, aggressive and demanding shape. i've seen one in my town during the Silver State Classic, an open road race out here in Nevada (holds the highway land speed record, 227 if i'm not incorrect, just a little nevada pride).
i'll tell you, it was most unnatural thing i've ever seen in my life, watching that lambo cruise down main street at 25mph. it just screams 200!

mason_RsX
12-02-2005, 12:43 PM
I had a tough time choosing between the murcialago and the F1. IMO their both stunning supercars and I would have no problem staring at one for a solid hour if I saw it parked somewhere.

But I think the F1 has a much meaner, more aggressive look to it. The Murcialago looks more subdued, and a bit more conservative.

Then again the Jag looks absolutely stunning, as all Jags ought to
