We just bought a 2000 A4 6 cyl turbo. Many little things keep kind of flaking out and we wondered if anybody else has had these issues and/or has ideas on what might be going on with ours. Sometimes the alarm will go off by itself for no reason. Today, my hazard lights turned on on their own when the car was off, keys were out, doors locked. Last night when I was opening my passenger door, it was dinging like the driver's door was open with the keys in it. The back driver's window wouldn't roll up one day. We had to manually push it up, then locked hte windows not wanting to see if it would happen again. Any ideas?

:2cents: time to change the original battery.
this is just a guess, but if it is the OEM one, it has had five years, in Colorado; slight trickle down and draws (being that winter is here) can cause these "anomolies" in the electrical.
an alternator with its regulator spiking and ready to fail could be another, since it sounds like all these issues don't duplicate.
if this is not it, I would spend $7. and run a VIN check on carfax.
if your newly acquired vehicle has been in an accident, with a dealer or seller who did not disclose this, electrical wiring problems, grounding issues, chaffing wires may be a cause, and Colorado has a lemon law.
hope it is just your battery,

Thank you! I will check those things! No, the issues don't seem to repeat themselves. The only one that has it that the car alarm keeps going off, and the only way to get it to stop when it is doing it over and over again is to just leave the car unlocked, which we don't like having to do! We will look into the battery/alternator issue. Thank you so much!

There is a button on the inside of the door pillar at the bottom; this may help you get round the alarm problem. I have to say it sound more like the alarm is at fault as the alarm will control the hazards and is connected to the doors and all sorts so it may be the alarm module.

Chances are the alarm is going off because the motion detectors are being set off. Is there anything in your car with a tendency to move? A parking tag on the rearview mirror maybe? Have the dealer dial down the sensitivity of your unltrsonic motion detectors, and that should resolve the problem with the alarm going off all the time.
