Very sincere owner. Would rather fix than play lemon. Car usually stalls when accelerating or decelerating at slower speeds(15-40MPH). Classic scenario: Slowing down at stoplight and engine cuts out, or....merging onto onramp and begining to accelerate. Tank is always at least 1/4 full when this happens. Dealer has found no codes on diagnostic, and refusese to do any troubleshooting. I tried another dealer, and they just 'drove' it. Both claim non-reproducibility and 'mea culpas'. My wife and I almost got creamed Friday night when it stalled on a freeway onramp. We love the car, and it has only just(32K miles) started doing this. Help help help!

With today's automotive technology, who knows what could be causing your stalling problem but I would recommend that you take it to "another" Toyota dealer. You may as well exercise your factory warranty before it expires. Case in point: my 05 Corolla S just had its fuel pump replaced at a cost to Toyota of $653.24! Had the warranty been expired, I would have had to pay for that. Not a good thing. Best of luck.

Does this happen when your gastank IS 1/4 full all the time? Do you notice the problem NOT happening w/ a certain fuel level? Problem could be your fuel sending unit/level = incorrect. 1/4tank actually means NO GAS. I've seen it before. This sounds like a fuel volume problem to me... did you resolve yet?

My 05 does the EXACT same thing. I have taken it to the dealer twice and they say all is OK. It is a random thing and of course it never does it when the mechanic drives it.
Mine also down shifts abruptly when coming to a stop. Drags then lunges forward when it downshifts. It is really hell to drive in stop and go traffic when it acts up like this. Again the dealer says no codes and all is normal. If I could sell it for what I owe I would. PLEASE post if you ever find a resolution.

I have a 2006 Highlander that after filling up, it starts okay, then dies when put into gear. I've taken it back to the dealer three or four times, and they can't find anything. The car was not driven to often, so they first said maybe there was too much moisture in the gas, but it has been driven more lately, and it is still doing it. Can someone help me too?
